Fortuny e Wagner
La mostra Fortuny e Wagner. Il wagnerismo nelle arti visive in Italia che occuperà le sale di Palazzo Fortuny fino all’otto aprile 2013, vuole divenire una tappa obbligata in occasione del bicentenario della nascita di Richard Wagner (Lipsia 1813- Venezia 1883).
L’esposizione, tuttavia, non vuole celebrare il noto compositore tedesco in modo consueto, bensì lo vuole porre in rapporto con le arti visive in Italia tra la fine dell’Ottocento e i primi del Novecento, aprendo un momento di riflessione e di studio mai affrontato con sufficiente attenzione nel nostro Paese.
Il wagnerismo, autentica moda culturale, caratterizzante l’estetica fra tardo naturalismo, Simbolismo e Liberty, invase e influenzò, infatti, qualsiasi forma ed espressione artistica divenendo essa stessa simbolo preciso di un’epoca.
La scelta della sede espositiva non risulta casuale, ma viene legata a Wagner grazie all’arte di Mariano Fortuny, che diventa protagonista di questa nuova ricerca grazie al suo Ciclo wagneriano, ben quarantasei dipinti e un discreto numero di incisioni che sono esposte per la prima volta integralmente al pubblico.
Come consuetudine nelle mostre tenutesi nel palazzo veneziano, il visitatore deve, per apprezzarne il gusto ed il senso, abbandonarsi alle emozioni, mettendo da parte per qualche minuto le sue capacità di raziocinio. L’occhio dello osservatore viene, infatti, quasi aggredito dalle opere contenute nel museo che lo chiamano per incantarlo, facendo dimenticare il motivo della sua presenza nelle sale. Tuttavia, superato il momento iniziale, sarà possibile apprezzare totalmente l’intento di suddetta mostra: riprodurre in tutti i modi possibili, acustici e visivi, il wagnerismo in Italia, non solo concentrandosi sugli esempi maggiori, ma dando uno sguardo anche ai fenomeni apparentemente più periferici, puntando sulla pluralità più che sul singolo. Fortuny e Wagner vuole essere una testimonianza d’arte a trecentosessanta gradi, invadendo la mente dello spettatore e cercando di riportare in auge lo spirito di un’epoca.
Ecco, quindi, che sono messe in confronto, ma forse sarebbe più corretto parlare di dialogo, non solo le opere di Fortuny, ma anche quelle di Balestrieri, Viazzi, Prati, Previati, Wildt: opere che si legano al compositore non solo per l’ispirazione più diretta, ma anche per le atmosfere misteriose che dono evocate dalla sua musica. Non stupisce, allora, di trovare in mostra anche una gouche di Mario de Maria usato come bozzetto per il celebre ritratto ormai perduto fatto alla figliastra di Wagner, o la maquette del Teatro di Beyreuth ed ancora l’influenza del wagnerismo e del suo immaginario nelle opere di artisti contemporanei del calibro di Kiefer, Tàpies, Viola, una dimostrazione di come l’arte sappia sempre parlare a chi desidera ascoltarla.
L’esposizione potrà fare un regalo unico a chiunque desideri accoglierlo, far riflettere: riflettere sul rapporto indissolubile che lega Wagner all’arte, il rapporto tra questi e gli artisti italiani, su come il tempo non possa nuocere a chi ha qualcosa da dire e come tale voce possa essere ascoltata anche ad anni di distanza.
