Six people stabbed at Penn Station

The suspect is a homeless man with mental health problems and past crimes
At least six people were stabbed on Sunday evening at Penn Station in Manhattan. The attack happened shortly after 7 p.m. on the NJ Transit concourse.
The suspect, who was taken into custody by responding officers, is 51-year-old Hector Deleon who has a history of past crimes in New York and New Jersey. He is homeless and emotionally disturbed, known to wander in the city’s Station. Deleon counts with at least seven previous arrests and also a similar stabbing in 2022 in Newark, NJ, where he was accused of stabbing a man in the neck with a six-inch blade.
According to the Fire Department, one person suffered a serious injury, two had moderate injuries, while the rest suffered minor injuries. The injured people in the stabbing were taken to Bellevue Hospital. Apparently a sixth person, whose condition was not yet known, was taken to a different hospital.
Henry Obadiah, 60-years-old, was slashed across the right side of his face and lip, requiring three stitches. “I’m lucky to be alive,” he told CBS News.
“My heart is with everyone who was injured, their loved ones, and all those shaken by this unacceptable violence. I’m wishing each of the victims a full and speedy recovery,” New York City’s mayor, Zohran Mamdani, posted on X.
This random attack happened the day before the third game of the NBA finals between the New York Knicks and San Antonio Spurs at the adjacent Madison Square Garden complex where also President Donald Trump attended.
